It's Friday? Woes of a Teacher: Losing Track of the Days in Summer...

I have to admit that this is me in the summertime. And, oh, how I love it. As much as I love to teach, I always welcome the days of sleeping in and recharging my batteries. 

Teaching can be very tolling, as we all know, and non-educators love to joke about us having the summers off. But the truth is, there wouldn't be many teachers left if we didn't have regular breaks from the stress and demands of our job. During the school year I feel as though I am working from the moment I wake up until the moment I fall asleep at night.

And we are not paid for our "vacation" time, contrary to popular belief. Our contracts are for a certain amount of days worked, which are then spread out to receive regular pay checks. Though, I did teach at a school that did not pay during the summer months. That was early on in my career and budgeting for that unpaid time was difficult on my meager salary. It's no wonder so many teachers take on summer jobs.

For those of you who have started your summer breaks, here's to you! Enjoy yourself and take time to just relax. For those of you who are still plugging away in the classroom, hang in there. Summer will be here before you know it. And while you are relaxing poolside, we'll be getting ready to go back.

And for the non-teachers, try not to give your friends a hard time about their summers off. They deserve it! :)

Do you have spring fever? I am more than ready for spring break (just 3 more days for us!) and my newest clip art packages make me even more anxious.


Spring Fever Clip Art Graphics: I created a cute package of spring icons, which include several different birds (cardinal, blue jay, blue bird, robin, black bird, grayish brown bird), bird nest, flowers, a bunny face (white & gray), tree, tuft of grass, four-leaf clover, clouds, every color of eggs, and an Easter basket with eggs.

Spring Fever Backgrounds and Frames: My second bundle of graphics include backgrounds and frames that are in fun spring colors. The frames are the cute curvy frames that can be layered on top of one another (like you see below) for different effects. There are 17 total frames and 17 total backgrounds.

Oh, how I love Dr. Seuss! And the colors in his books are so fun and bright. So I created some colorful backgrounds, frames, and borders inspired by the colors used in Seuss books that can be used for commercial purposes, or your own personal use.

How to Insert Frames, Borders, or Clip Art into a Microsoft Word Document

Have you ever been frustrated using Microsoft Word because you couldn't remember what you should click to get something to look just right? Me, too. I also had many teachers ask me how to insert my frames, borders, and other clip art png files into a Word document. So, I created a visual tutorial.

The problem I had, however, is that I only use a Mac. That didn't help those teachers who use a PC and Microsoft for Windows. So Krissy Malone, a fellow TpT teacher, came to my rescue! She created the PC instructions, complete with screenshots. So whether you use a Mac or a PC, we hope you will find these useful!

Thanksgiving Clip Art Now Available

I just posted my newly created Thanksgiving clip art package. It includes a cute turkey, several different autumn-colored leaves, an acorn, two different types of squash, pumpkins, a ready-made frame with turkey, and a cornucopia. All images come in color AND grayscale! Download the graphic of the leaf to assess the overall quality of my clip art. I think you'll be pleased. :) All of my clip art is available for commercial use.

Cute Halloween Clip Art for Commercial Use!

I just posted my Halloween clip art package. :) I was pleasantly surprised with my drawing ability...thankfully my Mac is able to make my crooked lines much smoother.

These images can be used for commercial use, including free downloads. So, if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative or supplement to your favorite clip art company, check out my cute Halloween package. It contains over 25 graphics (individual files in a zipped folder) in PNG format. I made the background transparent so these can be placed on any of your patterned or colored backgrounds without the white showing up.
